THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD

When we humans realize we don’t have the answer, then we’re ready to hear the second thing Jesus said to His disciples in the storm, which is the answer we all need: “it is I.”

When the disciples were struggling in the high winds and waves on the sea, Jesus came to them walking on the sea and said three things to them, which He is saying to all His followers today: “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid,”

The second thing Jesus says: “…it is I.”  Jesus wants us to know He is right there with us in the middle of our questioning and fears.  As the Lord says in Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t be afraid for I am with you, the Lord in all His power and wisdom is with you when You find yourself in conflict, whether it’s with people or circumstances or yourself.

Here’s what He wants us to know:  His presence is greater than anyone else’s presence.  He is not idle, but instead He is at work in you and in the situation.  Therefore, look to Him and follow His lead through it.

When you set as a core conviction that the Lord’s loving presence with you is greater than anyone else or anything else in this world, then His presence will reassure you and conquer your fear.

1 John 4:16,18  We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. …There is no fear in love … the one who is afraid is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love for him/her].
